Agares

Agares is a Goetic daemon I work with when the goal is connection — meeting influential people, building community presence, and getting doors opened that were closed. In *Walking with Daemonic Spirits* I describe the working relationship explicitly: more relationships, more access, more opportunity to move through communities you're already in.

What Agares does

my working with Agares is about interface — the ability to connect with people who matter, be recognizable inside a community, and have the right doors open at the right time. This is not generic "networking." It's the structural work of being the person meeting keeps happening to, not chasing.

The traditional Goetic material describes Agares with different emphasis; my frame is practitioner-focused: if you want to move through a scene, Agares is who you work with.

How the working goes

From the book: the offering cycle is structured around the relationships Agares opens. As new doors appear, attention goes back to the working — this is a living partnership, not a one-shot petition.

Signals Agares is active: - The right introduction lands unexpectedly - You're suddenly visible to the people you wanted to be visible to - Gatekeepers become less of an issue - Community attention flows toward you without effort

Working notes

Agares rewards consistency of offering more than size. Keep the relationship active — my phrasing is that you interface with the communities you're already in and let the daemon amplify what's natural, not manufacture what isn't.

Don't call Agares if you want to skip the work of actually being in rooms. The daemon opens doors; you still walk through.

Cross-tradition context

Goetic spirits have been worked with inside ceremonial magic for centuries, but my approach strips the medieval scaffolding and focuses on what the spirit actually does for the contemporary practitioner.

When I have worked with Agares, I’ve set up the working with an understanding that the more people I meet and befriend, and the more I am able to interface with the communities I’m involved in and meet influential people who can open doors for me, the more awareness I raise around the work he is doing for me.

— Taylor Ellwood, Walking with Daemonic Spirits

Agares pairs with Flereous (clearing what blocks visibility), Bune (the material flow that relationships often carry), and Belial (sovereignty in how you show up in those rooms).
