You’ve heard the bad advice:
“You don’t need to know how magic works. Just do it.”
That advice doesn’t really work though when a spell fails or a magic ritual doesn’t come together.
The fact is when you know HOW MAGIC WORKS you get better results. You aren’t wondering if what you’re doing will work. You know how it works and that makes you more confident as a magician.

A sigil is a symbol that is created through a process.
A ritual is a process as well.
I could give further examples, but my point is that when you look at magic as a process it changes how you practice magic. It also helps you understand what you are doing so you can get better results.
